Chicago’s “Top” New Reservation System
Restaurant reservations have never been more in vogue. Thanks to groundbreaking ticketed dining at restaurants like Elizabeth, and the new ticketing system Tock created by Nick Kokonas of Next and Alinea, dining reservations have achieved a new echelon in the hospitality sphere. Another newcomer to the game is Top-Top, a booking system that secures prime time, week-of reservations for diners while securing restaurant revenue and eliminating financial loss for restaurants from no-shows.
Where Top-Top sets itself apart from the reservation miscellany is in its focus on prime tables and “top” spots, so to speak. The booking company hones in on restaurants’ best seats and events, the ones that really make a dinner memorable. It seems like a dream come true, no? Believe it. Top-Top works by rolling out a list of available reservations on a weekly basis, adjoined by an exclusive newsletter featuring those prime dining slots. As soon as these reservations are announced, diners can secure spots online.
A slew of local restaurants have already hopped on board the Top-Top bandwagon, including Pearl Tavern, Kinmont, Bistronomic, Old Town Social, Moe’s Cantina, Jellyfish, Reverie, Sixteen, and others. For restaurants, Top-Top is a win-win, as it doesn’t cost them anything for booking fees. Rather, that small fee is tacked on for guests per seat.
