Toasting the Election

By Amy Cavanaugh

Between the election and the upcoming holidays, November is a busy month. Here are two food events to help you chill out this week.

After you’ve voted, head to Tesori for a $6 candidate-themed cocktail. The two choices are the blue BaRocks Obama, which is made with North Shore Gin No. 6, blue curacao, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, blueberries, pineapple nectar, and champagne. The red cocktail, the Mitt Rumney, is made with Bacardi, red raspberries, sloe gin, basil, orange bitters, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, and topped with tonic and lemon. Tesori’s lounge will also be showing election coverage, and you can get bar snacks like pork confit sliders and pizza such as the salsicca, with fennel sausage, broccoli rabe, and Parmesan.

Tired of the typical Thanksgiving turkey dinner? Try a Turducken this year. Gregory Ellis, executive chef at 2 Sparrows, is offering two hands-on Turducken classes, on November 7 and 14 at 6 p.m.For the uninitiated, Turducken is a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey, and Ellis will give you recipe and provide hands-on instruction so you’ll be able to make one at home. Ellis will cook a Turducken during the lesson so you can sample it at the end of the class. The class is $30 per person. To make a reservation, call (773) 234-2320.
