Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth at Two New Candy Lands
The holidays may be over, but candy-eating is always in season, especially when Chicago recently welcomed two sugary juggernauts to its dining and snacking scene. Las Vegas-based Sugar Factory American Brasserie made its Chicagoland debut in Rosemont, while New York City’s famed Dylan’s Candy Bar sweetened up Michigan Avenue downtown.
Despite the Wonka-esque name, Sugar Factory American Brasserie is actually a whole lot more than a candy Mecca. Sure, the brand is famed for its glittery desserts-on-a-stick Couture Pops and its extravagant sundaes large enough to feed a school, but Sugar Factory is an entertainment complex outfitted with everything from retail and coffee to cocktails and entrees. But let’s be honest, the first Chicagoland location of the Las Vegas-based concept is your one-stop shop for all things sweet, which is probably why you’ll end up wanting to go here. Because there’s something called a chocolate lounge and the King Kong sundae with 24 scoops of ice cream isn’t going to eat itself. There’s also indulgent milkshakes, frozen hot chocolate, and 60-ounce cocktails served in smoking candy goblets. The Blow Pop martini comes with what you’d expect it does, along with a Pop Rocks rim.
While Sugar Factory American Brasserie boasts plenty of adult-focused fixtures, Dylan’s Candy Bar is bound to be a universal favorite for patrons of all ages and appetites. Chicago’s first location of the New York candy sensation has set up shop on Michigan Avenue smack in the heart of downtown’s shopping district. Walking into the store feels like walking into a Katy Perry music video directed by Willy Wonka; the space is decorated to the nines with vibrant candies and chocolates in all shapes and colors. You practically get a cavity just by breathing the air. But stop in for the limitless array of pink Champagne fudge, gummies, cookie dough candy bars, and so much more. There’s even a designated candy shop area in the back of the store devoted entirely to nostalgic candies like Charleston Chew.
