Raising the Bar on Bar Menus

Upscale restaurants sometimes use bar menus to skew a little more casual, affording expanded dining opportunities for guests. Thanks to newly implemented bar menus at restaurants like Sepia and C Chicago, diners can get a taste of the high end at economical prices.

In the West Loop, Sepia is using its bar area as a new showcase for some of its “greatest hits.” The throwback menu in the bar and lounge area features some of the most renowned drinks and dishes served at the restaurant over its eight year history. To drink, expect the Sepia Old Fashioned and the French 75, while food from chef Andrew Zimmerman includes duck liver mousse, grilled vegetable crostino with ricotta salata, blistered shishito peppers, and crispy confit potatoes.

Seafood is the star of the show at River North’s C Chicago, which just unveiled an approachable new dining and drinking option called Shark Bar. So named for the metal shark sculpture on the wall, the casual new dining area features a slew of new dishes to snack on. Dishes include salmon BLT skewers, charred octopus salad, “Dirty Martini” oysters, and tuna sashimi with soy glaze and crispy beet chip. For drinks, cocktails include the Shark Bite, made with Don Julio Blanco, grapefruit, simple syrup, and a fresh jalapeno slice.
