October is National Pizza Month, and just in time for the saucy celebration, two restaurants are rolling out the dough in a big way. While one spot amplifies their regular pizza menu with a different pie each and every day of the month, another one welcomes a New York City pizza-maker for a one day pizza takeover.

If National Pizza Month is a legit holiday, then that makes tesori the North Pole. Pizza-philes should make their way to the Italian spot throughout the month to taste their way through 31 days’ worth of pizzas. In case their regular pizza menu is not enough, what with chicken sausage pizza, margherita, grilled shrimp pizza, and others, the restaurant will feature a different pizza special every day of October. Far from the standard toppings, tesori gets crafty with kale-butternut squash pizza on October 2, pizza with grilled corn, leeks, and peppers on October 9, a beef carpaccio pizza on October 10, “apple pie” pizza on October 13, one adorned with crab and turnip puree on October 23, and lots more. For Halloween, think outside the candy aisle with tesori’s pumpkin-guanciale-pecan pizza. Collect all 31!

From a month-long celebration to a one-night blowout, avec will offer pizzas aplenty on October 16. That’s when the wine bar welcomes Mark Bello of New York’s Pizza a Casa for an exclusive kitchen takeover. A slew of pizzas will be on hand, divvied into red, white, and dessert pies. Varieties include the Slice of Yore pizza with whole milk shredded mozzarella, red sauce with dried Italian wild oregano, Pecorino Romano, and sausage; the Hot Hula pizza with smoked mozzarella, red sauce with Mazi Piri Piri sauce, pineapple, pulled avec pork shoulder, Fulvi Pecorino Romano, and dried jalapeño flakes; the Sprouts ‘N Snouts with mozzarella, whole milk ricotta, unsalted butter, Fulvi Pecorino, shredded Brussels sprouts, fresh garlic, Publican Quality Meats headcheese, lemon zest, and black pepper; and a sweet pie strewn with bananas, cajeta, and chopped dry roasted peanuts.
