Make a Touchdown with Gourmet Game Day Grub

This Super Bowl Sunday, think outside the seven-layer dip with the help of imaginative restaurants slinging fried chicken, pie, doughnuts, porchetta, and lots more.

Nothing says “football” like copious amounts of meat, and smalls has hungry patrons covered in a big way. Available for pick-up on Super Bowl Sunday, the little smoke shack that could is slinging smoked brisket and pulled pork by the pound, full slaps of ribs, and whole fried chickens.

Publican Quality Meats is another meaty Mecca for all your Super Bowl fixings. The deli is doling out a miscellany of game day provisions all weekend long, from pulled pork sandwiches and beef chili to chicken wings, cheddar brats, and housemade soft pretzels.

Since the Super Bowl is all about beer, you can’t do any better than by celebrating with Baderbrau, Chicago’s original craft beer. The company is partnering with Chicago Beer Geeks for a Sunday Funday to remember, kicking off at Buffalo Wings and Rings at 3:00 pm. The event features beer specials for Baderbrau’s Original Pilsner and their new Red Velvet ale. Obviously, there will be wings aplenty, plus a raffle.

Another beer-centric Super Bowl shindig is taking place at La Birreria, Eataly’s beer-themed eatery, as well as at La Carne, Eataly’s meat-focused restaurant. Each spot will display the game on TV screens and full wall projections. Along with regular à la carte menus at both restaurants, guests have the opportunity to chow down on rotisserie porchetta or porcini-rubbed prime rib, along with plenty of beer and rosemary-roasted potatoes, Tuscan-style white beans, and Brussels sprouts with saba.

For dessert, Bang Bang Pie Shop is bringing back its beloved Super Bowl pie for another year. The butch confection features a pretzel crust laden with dark chocolate, malted milk marshmallow, and heady stout caramel.

Fresh off a win for people’s choice best doughnut at Donut Fest, West Town Bakery & Diner will have its football-inspired beer and pretzel doughnuts on deck for Super Bowl Sunday. Made by pastry chef Chris Teixeira, the beer-infused doughnut is studded with crunchy pretzels and filled with spiced cookie spread. The pastry chef is also offering 12-packs of cake balls, half decorated in Seattle Seahawks colors and half in Denver Broncos colors, plus football-shaped cookies!
