Brew News: Beers at Eataly, The Dawson, and iNG
Nowadays you can’t fling a stein without hitting a cask of craft beer in Chicago. The city is gleefully saturated in locally derived craft brews, as breweries continue to pop up quicker than customers can say “cheers.” The latest brew news comes from Eataly, The Dawson, and iNG.
The most recent rung in the seemingly limitless ladder that is Eataly is house-brewed beers from their on-site microbrewery. Gina is a traditional American pale ale infused with thyme from Italy, Sophia is a Belgian wit brewed with three types of peppercorns, and Fl!p Ale packs potent notes of green cardamom, saba, candied ginger, and slow-roasted spelt. To help inaugurate their new brews, Eataly’s Birreria restaurant is offering a promo through the first few weeks of March wherein guests can sample three pours and three small bites.
Since the only thing better than drinking beer is talking logically about it, The Dawson continues its Tuesday beer chats series into March. Each Tuesday, the restaurant features a different craft brewer in attendance to chat with guests about their wares and dole out complimentary beers between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. After said chat, special beers will be on tap for the evening.
Craft beer is so popular these days it warrants its own inspired tasting menu at iNG. The perpetually envelope-pushing, degustation-focused restaurant shifts its tasting menus to a theme called “The Craft Beer Experience” beginning March 4. Designed to toast to beer culture in all its glory, Chef Tim Havidic is cooking up beer-inspired and beer-infused fare paired with craft beers. Think coffee-cured lamb braised in porter and sour ale foam with cheese.
