Oyster Classes, Fish Platters, and Hot Sauces at GT Fish & Oyster
Not one to rest on its bivalve laurels, GT Fish & Oyster continues to push the nautical envelope when it comes to menu additions and restaurant happenings. The latest at River North’s chicest seafood spot involves oyster classes, smoked fish platters, and bottled hot sauces for sale.
School is a lot more fun when oysters are involved, and the curriculum includes shucking and slurping. On March 25, GT Fish & Oyster kicks off a planned quarterly oyster class series with an inaugural lesson joined by Fortune Fish and Tenzing Wine & Spirits. The inaugural class teaches students all about the regional specificities of oysters, traditional and contemporary pairings for oysters, and how to shuck like a champ. Attendees will also be treated to some of GT’s cooked oyster preparations. Those who linger and enjoy dinner after class receive a discounted rate. Consider it extra credit. The event kicks off at 6:00 pm.
Aside from oysters, GT (Smoked) Fish & Oyster is offering an aromatic new spread ideal for fish-lovers. The smoked fish platter is the perfect shareable plate for groups or the perfect gluttonous spree for one hungry diner. It consists of smoked sturgeon with quail egg, capers, and raisin compote; smoked shrimp with beer mustard and pretzel; beet-cured salmon with pickled golden beets; and smoked escolar with cucumber and horseradish creme.
Side note: GT Fish & Oyster now makes its fiendishly adored hot sauces for sale. The restaurant’s bottled “Burn” and “Smoulder” sauces have been heating up dinner tables since inception
