Lee Wolen Whips Up Surf & Turf Tacos for Antique Taco
Lee Wolen, the chef at The Lobby at The Peninsula, is the latest chef to head into the kitchen at Wicker Park joint Antique Taco to make a special taco to benefit charity. Wolen’s surf and turf taco will be available throughout the month of June, and proceeds will benefit Common Threads, a non-profit organization founded in 2003 that teaches kids about nutrition and physical well being.
Wolen’s taco features grilled octopus, pulled pork, kimchi, and aioli and will be available at Antique Taco through the end of June. At The Lobby, Wolen has a roasted Spanish octopus dish with smoked ham, radishes, and lime on the menu, so tweaking the accompaniments and folding the ingredients into tortillas seems a logical next step.
The monthly guest chef series at Antique Taco has already featured Bill Kim of Urban Belly, Belly Shack and BellyQ; Charlie McKenna of Lillie’s Q; and Ryan LaRoche of NoMI.
