Book Events for Foodies!

Not since the final Harry Potter book has there been so much anticipation for new books. Why? Because new releases from acclaimed chefs Sean Brock, Nick Balla, and Cortney Burns come with can’t-miss dining events at Publican Quality Meats and The Publican. Thanks to One Off Hospitality’s upcoming slate of food book events, diners and readers have plenty of reason to get excited.

First up, Paul Kahan hosts his chef pal Sean Brock of Charleston’s Husk, Minero, and McCrady’s (plus a Husk in Nashville) for a special barbecue at Publican Quality Meats on October 26. The event is in celebration of Brock’s new book, Heritage, which appropriately touts the Southern cuisine Brock has made his name on and showcases modern interpretations of Southern staples. The barbecue will feature recipes from Heritage starting at 7:00 pm.

Next, The Publican hosts chefs from San Francisco for an evening of Bar Tartine-inspired goods on November 11. Co-chefs Nick Balla and Cortney Burns will be in town to discuss Bar Tartine: Techniques & Recipes, and they’re teaming up with The Publican’s chef de cuisine Cosmo Goss for a night. Together, they’ll curate a la carte offerings derived from the new book, including smoked potatoes with ramp mayonnaise, walleye with green chili, collards, and mushrooms, and blood sausage in sauerkraut soup. Plus, Chad Robertson of Tartine Bakery will work in tandem with Publican Quality Meats’ head baker Greg Wade for the evening to bake up bread.
