Tap Into Firkin Fest

Attention, beer-lovers. The Super Bowl of beer events is poised to take place at Headquarters Beercade in River North with the second annual Firkin Fest. This glorious tasting event serves as a sudsy homage to Chicago’s booming craft beer scene, with this year’s roster featuring more than 50 local and regional breweries on March 29.

For the uninitiated, a firkin is deemed “real ale” in that it’s beer that is cask-conditioned and has yet to be cold-filtered, pasteurized, or carbonated with outside equipment. It’s beer at its purest and finest, especially for aficionados, and Firkin Fest is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to celebrate beer in such an unadulterated form. It’s the rare occasion that samples unforeseen flavors from the likes of Half Acre Brewing, Goose Island, Revolution Brewing, Founders Brewing Co., and more.

The event features a chef-driven buffet along with a myriad of firkin samples, as well as souvenir glassware for attendees. At the culmination of the event, one brewery will be given the “People’s Choice Award.”
