The Real Souper Bowl
The best defense for a Chicago winter is soup, soup, and more soup, which is what makes the week-long Soup Fest at Rockit Bar & Grill and Rockit Burger Bar the quintessential winter celebration. All week long from February 3 through February 7, the restaurants are offering up a slew of soups, featuring a different variety each day, plus an alphabetical blast from the past.
Soups are courtesy of executive chef Amanda Downing and include hearty beef stew (February 3) with barley, tomato, mushrooms, and cheddar-chive biscuits; seafood bouillabaisse (February 4) with shrimp, calamari, whitefish, fennel, tomato, saffron broth, and grilled baguette; smoked chicken chowder (February 5) with corn, leeks, and a sourdough bread bowl; roasted carrot soup (February 6) with fennel-pine nut pesto and sourdough croutons; and cheddar-ale soup (February 7) with sharp cheddar cheese, beer, potatoes, bacon, and a pretzel bread bowl. Additionally, vegetable alphabet soup is on deck all week long, brimming with vegetables, vegetable broth, and alphabet pasta.
