Hot Doug’s Prepares for an Encased Meat Encore

It seems like just yesterday Doug Sohn pulled the plug on his legendary hot dog emporium, Hot Doug’s. It also feels as if he never left, considering all the pop-up events and guest chef appearances he’s been doing, such as his Hot Doug’s-inspired pizza at Piece Pizzeria recently. But the Sausage King is ready to make his biggest encore appearance to date in June at Goose Island Barrel Warehouse for a weekend-long Hot Doug’s pop-up.

Hot Doug’s makes its triumphant, albeit short-lived, return June 27 and June 28 at the Goose Island Barrel Warehouse as part of Goose Island Beer Company’s new Dog Dayz of Summer hot dog fest. Designed as an ode to Chicago’s iconic encased meat, there could be no better headliner for such an event than Sohn himself. At the event, attendees get to experience a “best of”-style lineup of hot dogs from Sohn and co. in a casual, boisterous festival-like setting. Sohn’s famous sausages and duck fat fries will be in attendance, along with beer and live music by the likes of North by North, The Hitmaker, Bare Mutants, The Lawrence Peters Outfit, The Claudettes, and more.

Sohn will also be participating in a panel discussion with a slew of other sausage experts on the history of the Chicago hot dog, along with other meaty topics.
