Have a Summer Picnic

By Amy Cavanaugh
Italian picnic baskets from The Florentine

It’s picnic season, and whether you need sustenance for a Grant Park concert or just want to eat at a picnic table in your backyard, two restaurants are helping make your meal more delicious.

The Florentine is packing two Italian picnic baskets this summer. The Ciao Bella date basket features homemade grissini, Italian cheeses, roasted almonds, marinated olives, grilled vegetables, a chicken dish, biscotti, and wine. The Italian Summer in the City basket includes homemade beet chips, a chicken and avocado Panini, tomato, watermelon and burrata salad, and ricotta cheesecake with Michigan blueberries.

Toni Patisserie offers Pique-Nique tote bags that come stuffed with a baguette sandwich, a salad, two snacks, two desserts, and two drinks. You can also add a bottle of wine to make the whole thing a little more Parisian. Toni’s baguette sandwiches include Le Breton, with ham, salted butter, and cornichons and Le Boeuf, with roast beef, horseradish mayo, tomato, red onion, and greens. Choose between chips or a baguette for the snacks and chocolate chip cookies or brownies for the desserts.
