Altruistic Monkey Business
If there’s one thing we love more than a good meal, it’s a good meal that supports a good cause. Like adorable animals at the Lincoln Park Zoo. As one of Chicago’s preeminent family-friendly attractions, the zoo is a popular spot for kids, especially considering it contains enough animals from all over the world to fill an ark. It makes perfect sense that one of the most family-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood would step up to the plate to support its eclectic neighbor. Enter: Gemini Bistro.
In tune with summer tourist season (and thus, zoo season), Gemini Bistro will donate all proceeds from every kids’ meal to playtime enrichment programs and items for primates. From balls to mirrors, these items are essential to helping primates learn, grow, and be happy in their environment. This presents a unique opportunity for kids to give back to the animals they adore so much.
Gemini’s executive chef Jon Keeley knows what kids like, too. His kids’ menu contains fan favorites such as mac & cheese with orecchiette pasta, mini burgers, grilled chicken, and more, making it easy for little ones to chow down and give back. There’s also a kids’ brunch section, featuring items like vanilla French toast and housemade granola.
And don’t worry, adults. Y’all are also welcome to make donations to the cause throughout the summer.
