As corn season ebbs, ease your sorrows at Sola and help the kernels go out with a bang by partaking in the restaurant’s corn-centric prix fixe menu. Happening now through the end of September, the corn degustation is a collaboration between Sola’s chef/owner Carol Wallack and One Part Plant’s Jessica Murnane.

September 18 is National Cheeseburger Day, a beefy Christmas that merits celebration at some of Chicago’s top burger destinations. Eschew the all-too-easy fast-food options and make your way to DMK Burger Bar, Clark Street Dog and Bar, or one of the Rockit bars, all of which are featuring special cheesy burgers for the occasion (or for the month). 

State fairs are one of fall’s quintessential traditions, with rides and games and deep-fried foods on sticks aplenty. It’s a soulful slice of pure Americana, comforting and fun in every way. But for many Chicagoans, it can be hard to get away from the city and trek to the country. Thankfully, several restaurants in town are embracing the spirit of the state fair by serving up some scrumptious wares that would be right at home at any county fair.
