Hot Dogs Take Over a Burger Spot

By Matt Kirouac

Hot dogs and burgers are two of the most Americana foods imaginable, so for the Fourth of July it makes sense to fuse the two sentiments into one tasty, patriotic amalgam. Rockit Burger Bar is basically doing just that with a slew of burger-inspired hot dogs on deck from July 3 through July 6, wherein for a few days the burger-focused bar and eatery will shift gears into hot dog territory.

Rockit Burger Bar is renowned for its beefy, exotic, and decadent creations of the ground beef ilk. That’s all well and good, but in honor of Independence Day, Rockit Burger Bar is embracing a different kind of American meat with its “Hot Dog Takeover.” All weekend long, the menu will be filled with hot dog versions of the signature burgers, each one served atop an eight-ounce foot-long sausage.

Hot dogs include the Mac Daddy Dog with mac and cheese, caramelized onions, and sweet potato fries; the BBQ Bourbon dog with buttermilk blue cheese, grilled red onion, housemade bourbon-barbecue sauce, bacon aioli, and waffle fries; the Hottie Dog with breaded stuffed jalapeños, habanero Jack cheese, ghost pepper aioli, and waffle fries; and the Double Dog, a behemoth made with two hot dogs, tomato, lettuce, mustard, sport peppers, and curly fries.
