LUXBAR Celebrates 10 Years in the Gold Coast

One of the most popular dining and drinking destinations in the restaurant-packed Gold Coast has achieved its banner 10th anniversary, and the restaurant is celebrating with a variety of specials, updated menus, and a new partnership with Gotham Greens.

First up, LUXBAR commemorates its 10 years in business with a special promotion called the 10-10-10-10 menu. For 10 days starting on October 10, the restaurant will feature 10 drinks and 10 dishes. Examples include a build-your-own Manhattan or Moscow Mule, the LUX Royale Burger, and the Great Lakes whitefish.

Just in time for the 10th anniversary, newly appointed executive chef Michael Shrader has put his own stamp on the restaurant with a miscellany of new dishes to adjoin the timeworn classics. Exhibiting his seasoned culinary skills, new dishes include beef carpaccio with balsamic glaze and crispy mushrooms; a Berkshire pork chop with bourbon glaze and a dried cherry and apricot compote; and a farro and arugula salad with grape tomatoes, mint, basil, shaved red onion, celery leaf, Parmesan, and Champagne vinaigrette.

Not to be outdone, the beverage program has proven equally innovative at LUXBAR, with lead bartender Stephen Gleich curating a well stocked bar filled with craft spirits, beers, and wines. The LUXBAR Beverage Book is a prime example of this, packed with seasonally inspired cocktails, 250 Scotch and whiskey varieties, spirits, wine, and draft beers.  

Finally, LUXBAR has partnered with Gotham Greens to further enhance the restaurant’s emphasis on local, sustainable sourcing. Gotham Greens is a local produce company specialized in urban agriculture and greenhouse-grown vegetables and herbs. With rooftop greenhouse space currently in New York City and Chicago, the company looks to ramp up its Chicago efforts this month, and LUXBAR is getting in on the action by sourcing ingredients like Genovese basil, butterhead lettuce, arugula, and other greens from the growing company. Further, chef Shrader plans to add a signature Gotham salad to the LUXBAR menu, a rotating salad that changes seasonally to showcase Gotham Greens’ freshest provisions.
