Holiday Tea Time

By Amy Cavanaugh

When the temperature starts dropping, it’s time for a cup of tea. You can go classic with daily afternoon tea at The Drake, or try one of these new teas.

Atwood Café launches a holiday tea service this weekend with your choice of eight different teas that are served with cumin- or chamomile-infused honey. While you’re sipping, indulge in chef Derek Simcik’s tomato cucumber, salmon, and curry chicken salad sandwiches, cranberry scones, chocolate-covered strawberries, mousse, macaroons, and other treats. Tea is available November 17, 18, 24, 25, and every day in December for $35 per adult and $20 per child.

Opt for a more adult tea at the Fairmont Chicago, which is offering tea cocktails all month. Four cocktails will be available at Aria Bar: The Napoleon Complex made with peppermint tea and Napoleon Mandarine Liqueur; Rye & Tea made with rooibos tea and Ri Whisky; The Southern Gentleman made with chai tea and bourbon; and the Smoky Peach Tea-Ni with white tea and Chivas Regal.
