Chicago Chocolate Week

Get your sweet tooth ready… Sunday kicks off the Chicago Fine Chocolate Show and an offshoot event, Chicago Chocolate Week. It’s a delicious promotion that’s raising money for Share Our Strength, an organization that works to end childhood hunger. From November 11-18, you’ll be able to find special chocolate desserts on restaurant menus, which will whet your appetite for the main event – the inaugural Chicago Fine Chocolate Show, which will be held at Navy Pier from November 16-18.

So far 18 restaurants are participating, and they’ll donate 10 percent of sales to Share Our Strength. So you can feel good about digging into flourless chocolate banana cake at Aria, a cranberry chocolate spice tart at Floriole, a dark chocolate soufflé cake with peanut butter sauce at Sable, or a chocolate cake with chestnut cream and gelato at Filini. Other participating spots include Avec, Bar Toma, Mercadito, Perennial Virant, South Water Kitchen, and Storefront Company.

The Chocolate Show will let you sample a wide array of chocolates, as well as wine and beer. Plus you’ll get to see things like a chocolate sculpture garden made by the French Pastry School, attend cooking demos, and try chocolate pairings. A $25 admission ticket will give you access to 15 samples, or $35 gets you 15 chocolate tickets and 10 beverage tickets.
