Follow that Food Truck!

We’re back for the twelfth season of Check, Please! This season, we’re starting off with a show that features Chicagoland’s rolling restaurants – food trucks! This September, a gaggle of food trucks parked outside of the WTTW Studios as more than 1,000 guests sampled the tasty truck offerings. As The O’My’s played, and people enjoyed savory and sweet bites, the merriment ensued as our production staff visited each of the trucks to record interviews and capture the fun of this new phenomenon.
    
And then it rained, and rained some more. Fortunately, the weather couldn’t damper the festive energy and the hearty appetites as guests traveled from food truck to food truck to enjoy scrumptious meat pies, crispy margarita pizzas, and craving-worthy cupcakes! Our video crew was a bit soggy when all was said and one but we think you’ll discover in this week’s episode why this new generation of food trucks have become so popular. From ice pops that are reminiscent of Willy Wonka’s Ever-Lasting Gobstopper and duck gumbo with just the right spicy kick to meatballs that will make your mouth water and soups that will have you slurping up the last drop, this Food Truck Special is a must-see.
