The Quintessential Midnight Snacks at Night Bites

By Matt Kirouac
Union Station

Midnight snacking gets a whole lot more gourmet at the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® Night Bites event taking place September 20. Presented in conjunction with the roving national Taste America food festival, Night Bites takes place at Union Station with a number of Chicago’s top toques, all cooking in support of the James Beard Foundation and local charity partner Common Threads.

True to form, Night Bites presented by Breadcrumb PRO takes place from 9:00 p.m. until midnight. It’s the official after party for the foundation’s Journey Through the Great Lakes dinner earlier that evening. The twilight affair amasses some of the city’s top culinary talents, enabling guests to enjoy bites from many esteemed restaurants and chefs. Participants include Johnny Anderes of Telegraph and Reno, Charlie McKenna of Lillie’s Q, Bryan Moscatello of Storefront Company, Nicole Pederson of Found, Ryan Poli of Tavernita and Little Market Brasserie, Mark Steuer of Carriage House and The Bedford, Tom Van Lente of TWO, Jason Vincent of Nightwood, and Lee Wolen of The Lobby at The Peninsula. Night sips come courtesy of Crafthouse Cocktails, the new line of bottled cocktails by Aviary’s mixologist Charles Joly, as well as craft beers curated by Louis Glunz Beer, Inc.

Dancing shoes are highly recommended, as DJ Matt Roan will be spinning tunes all night long.
