• Sad news for mussels lovers: Leopold is closing after two years in business. The Belgian restaurant will serve their last dinner tomorrow night, so make a beeline tonight or tomorrow if you’d like one last order of Leopold’s great moules frites or charcuterie.
• A slightly different concept has just opened in River West—Duran European Sandwiches & Cafe sells teeny, tiny sandwiches. The restaurant was inspired by a collective of Duran cafes located in Vienna, Austria. You can expect all sorts of toppings—Hungarian salami, red peppers, olives, carrot and apple salad—composed on European white bread. The sandwiches are served open-faced and there are about 35 different ones available each day. Other items at the café include a European-style coffee program, hot chocolate, and pastries from JR Dessert Bakery.
• The most buzzed about news in Chicago dining this week? We’re getting an Olive Garden. While there are outlets of the Italian chain in the suburbs, there isn’t one in city limits. The new restaurant will be located in the parking lot of the Kmart store at 3535 W. Addison St. and construction will begin this summer.
