Local Brew

We’re kind of spoiled on the beer front in Chicago – there are so many breweries turning out so much great beer that it can be hard to decide what to sip. Two upcoming beer tasting events mean you can try lots of Midwest-made beer without having to commit to a whole pint.

  • On January 17, SmallBar Division hosts Cask Night, with Hopcast and Beermapping. Casks of Three Floyds Zombie Dust, Solemn Oath Kidnapped by Vikings, Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo, Half Acre Daisy Cutter, and Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale will be tapped. Snag VIP tickets, and you’ll get drink tickets, meet brewers from Three Floyds, Half Acre, and Solemn Oath, and get some food in your belly so you can keep on drinking.
  • Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and the Square Kegs Home Brew Club host the second annual Winter Brew on February 9. There will be a homebrew competition, food from The Grafton Pub and Fountainhead, plus beer from 5 Rabbit, Begyle, Half Acre, Metropolitan, Finch, and Revolution, plus libations from Koval Distillery. Though the event isn’t for a month, more than half the tickets are already gone, so you won’t want to wait.
