Films and Free Food!

By Amy Cavanaugh

You don’t want to miss out on the Chicago Food Film Festival, which is now in its third year. You also don’t want to miss out on discounted tickets: if you snag them by noon Friday, you’ll get 33 percent off. Held at Kendall College, there are four events from November 15-17 that combine short indie films and tastes from Chicago restaurants. The fest kicks off on Thursday with “Farm to Film to Table,” which features six short films and food during the screenings. The food comes from Chicago restaurants that focus on sustainable ingredients, and includes a tasting of El Ideas’ Fries and Ice Cream. On Friday, Fish Fry Day includes four films and an authentic Wisconsin fish fry. Check out the full line-up and get tickets here.

Celebrate Thanksgiving a little early this year by heading to BOKA on Monday. The restaurant is holding its last late night event until next summer starting at 10:00 pm. Chef/Partner Giuseppe Tentori, Chef de Cuisine Carl Shelton, and the other BOKA chefs are whipping up childhood favorites that you can eat for free – yes, free. On the menu are whole turkeys, three types of stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie, among other dishes. You’ll also be able to buy a cocktail or other drink from bartender Ben Schiller. Now that sounds like something to be thankful for!
